Delhi VAT Rate increased from 4% TO 5% w.e.f. 13-01-2010

In the principal Act, in Section 10, after sub-section (4), the following subsection shall be inserted, namely:- “(5) Where the goods which have been purchased by a dealer are sold at a price lower than the price at which it was purchased by the dealer, the tax credit on such purchases shall be reduced proportionately in the tax period during which the goods are sold.

Amendment to the Maharashtra Value Added Tax Rules, 2005

The sub-rule (1) provides the different forms of returns to be filed by various categories of dealers. Earlier, the dealers. used to submit these forms of return-cum-chalan physically either to the Bank alongwith payment of tax, interest etc., if any or to the Sales Tax Department where tax liability was NIL. Empowering Central Government to enter into agreement with specified non-sovereign territories & Transfer Pricing

Amendment of section 90 :-The Finance Bill (No. 2) 2009 proposes to replace the existing Section 90 with a new section 90. The new section 90 is substantially the same as earlier section 90 except that the proposed amendment seeks to empower the Central Government to enter into an agreement with the Government of any country outside India or a specified territory outside India, inter alia, for avoidance of double taxation of income.

Clarification on changes in profession tax rates

To give effect to the Budget proposals, a Bill (Legislative Assembly Bill No. XIV of 2009) to amend the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 1975 was introduced in the Legislature. The said Bill has been passed by both the houses of the Legislature. The Act is now published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette dated 27th June 2009.
