NOTIFICATION NO.25/2012 In exercise of the powers conferred by section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962, namely:- 1. (1) These rules may be called the Income-tax (7th Amendment) Rules, 2012. (2) They shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has notified the Schedule VI (Revised) which is applicable in respect of Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Account prepared for the financial year commencing on or after 1.4.2011. The Revised Schedule VI had changed the nomenclature of certain items, modified the present classification of accounts, removed / added certain disclosure requirements etc which in turn has impacted the financial reporting requirement for the Companies.

The government has made it mandatory for individuals with income above Rs 10 lakh to file their tax returns 2011-12 onwards electronically.
