A new online tracking system will allow websites to pinpoint your location to within a few hundred metres, without your permission. Internet sites will be able to work out where users are within an average of 690 metres, using information about their internet connection. At the moment they can only track users' locations to within a radius of about 200 km, but the new technique will narrow this down to as little as 100 metres, the Daily Mail reports.

The Government has set a deadline of December 2011 for major telecom operators to adopt the next generation protocol for Internet services in the country.Called Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), the new standard will offer improved address space, quality of service and data security capabilities.

India’s biggest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) became a victim of cyber attack on Sunday, after the company’s website was hacked and the domain name was put up for sale. While in the recent past, hackers have attacked top government websites, including telecom regulator’s trai.gov.in, this is the first time a large IT company’s website has been hacked.
