SEBI barred use of mobile phones in dealing rooms

Most mutual funds have barred use of mobile phones in their dealing rooms to prevent front-running, though regulations didn’t require them to do so until recently. Last week, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) made this ban official on the heels of its recent order, which pulled up an equities dealer at HDFC Asset Management for leaking information of its planned trades to a few other investors.

Sebi asked mutual fund houses to maintain records of phone conversations in dealing rooms for eight years

The regulator's direction follows a June 17 order banning HDFC asset management company's (AMC) former equities dealer, Nilesh Kapadia, from stock market transactions. Kapadia was barred after allegations that he had tipped off his friend before placing orders for the fund house.

List of Banks which can accept Applications Supported by Blocked Amount (ASBAs) from investors in issues w.e.f January 1, 2010

SEBI, vide its press release dated December 10, 2009 had informed that ASBA facility shall be extended to all investors other than QIBs, in all public issues with effect from January 1, 2010. It was also informed that SEBI would be displaying names and other relevant details of banks (Self Certified Syndicate Banks (SCSBs) which will be authorized to accept ASBAs w.e.f. January 1, 2010, on the website www.sebi.gov.in .

Cut-off time for e-payment transactions pertaing to Government Revenue

DGBA.GAD.No. 10577 / 42.01.038 /2007-08 - We further advise that It has been decided inconsultation with the Controller General of Accounts, Ministry of Finance, Government of India that the cut-off time of 8.00 p.m. fixed for e-payment transactions would be applicable for all Government transactions including EASIEST and OLTAS. The other instructions contained in para 1 of our circular would remain unchanged.
