Finance Min may go slow on Income Tax refunds

Amid fears of slowdown in tax collection in the current fiscal, the Finance Ministry today indicated that it may go slow on disbursement of pending income tax refunds. The indication was given by Revenue Secretary Sunil Mitra at the annual conference of chief commissioners and directors general of income tax here.

Mobile Banking Transactions in India – Operative Guidelines for Banks

Transaction limit: In amendment of provisions of paragraph 8.1 of the above guidelines, banks are now permitted to offer this service to their customers subject to a daily cap of Rs 50,000/- per customer for both funds transfer and transactions involving purchase of goods/services. Presently, such transactions are subject to separate caps of Rs 5000/- and Rs 10000/ -respectively.

Government not in favour of supervision of commercial activities of banks by MPs

RBI guideline on Fair Practice Code for Lenders and EMI calculation methods

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued guidelines on ‘Fair Practice Code for Lenders’ which are required to be framed by Banks/Financial Institutions/ Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) duly adopted by their respective Boards. These guidelines which are revised periodically, inter-alia, stipulate that loan application forms in respect of all categories of loans irrespective of the amount of loan sought by the borrower should be comprehensive.
