In partial modification of the Institute’s Notification No.13-CA (EXAM)/CPT/ June/2013 dated 2nd January, 2013, it is notified for general information that the last date of receipt of duly filled Common Proficiency Test application forms, through online or otherwise, shall be 25th April, 2013, instead of 24th April 2013 (a gazetted holiday) as announced earlier.

In pursuance of Regulation 22 of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is pleased to notify that the Common Proficiency Test (Paper- Pencil Mode) will be held on Sunday, 16th June, 2013 in two sessions as below, at the following centres provided that sufficient number of candidates offer themselves to appear from each centre.

Extension of Common Proficiency Course (CPC) registration date upto 2nd April, 2013 for appearing in the June, 2013 Common Proficiency Test (CPT)

The following categories of students shall be exempted from passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT):- (A) Graduates or Post Graduates in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognised University (including Open University) by studying any three papers of 100 marks each out of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting;

The top three rank holders on all India basis of Chartered Accountants Final Examinations held in May, 2012 are from Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore respectively and their details along with the marks secured by them are mentioned at Annexure-A. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the examination Centre of 200 candidates bearing Roll No. from 218290 to 218489 for CPT (Common Proficiency Test – Examination) to be held on 17th June, 2012 has been changed to DOON PUBLIC SCHOOL, B-2, PASCHIM VIHAR, BEHIND LAXMI NARAYAN MANDIR, NEW DELHI-110 063 ( in place of St. Mathew’s Public School, A-6 Paschim Vihar, New Delhi-110 063).

First of all, what exactly does CPT mean? The full form of this abbreviation is “Common Proficiency Test”. If one wants to pursue a course in chartered accountancy, he or she has to clear this entrance test. Before being able to give this examination, one has to register with the ‘Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI) which is the main statutory body.

In continuation of earlier announcement dated January 5, 2012, it is hereby informed that due to the closure of Banks on account of yearly closing and subsequent public holidays on 5th April, 2012 (Mahavir Jayanti) and 6th April, 2012 (Good Friday), the last date for registration for Common Proficiency Course (CPC) shall be 9th April, 2012 for being eligible to appear in the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) to be held in June, 2012.
