When the market started and I was listening CNBC TV Suddenly around 11 am Udayan Mukherjee of CNBC TV jumped of his seat and shocked to find the GDP numbers of India. Within few minutes India was into a roller coaster ride. July-Sept GDP up 7.9%. Economist and all market speculators are having their eyes coming out of shock. This tax treaty controversy is snowballing. First it was just the India Mauritius Double Tax Avoidance Treaty that was under a shadow and has been that way for a couple of years then the proposed Direct Tax Code released in August this year proposed a Treaty of Override Clause. The Income Tax (I-T) department has raided 12 Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) premises, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources. The raided premises include residences of two HDIL directors. Mr Rajinder Hinduja, Executive Director (Finance), Gokaldas Exporters, expressed concern over the delay in the refund of taxes linked to levies like service tax and others.
