Amendment in HBP-V1-Additional items-markets for incentives under chapter-3 schemes -Admissible date of Export/Period

In Appendices 37A, 37C, and 37D, the following is added after the existing note(s).“Note for Admissible Date of Export/ Period: The admissible date of export for claiming benefits is 27.8.2009, unless a specific date of export / period is specified by public notice/notification.”

IT department to recover 1000 crore from infrastructure development companies

The Income-Tax (I-T) department will recover close to Rs 1,000 crore from infrastructure development companies after a recent tax tribunal order clarified that the exemption available for infrastructure development cannot be extended to contractors or sub-contractors. The order puts an end to the practice of contractors and sub-contractors claiming benefits under section 80 IA of Income-tax Act, which was incorporated to encourage investment in infrastructure projects.

Exempts goods falling within Chapter 69 and heading numbers 94.01, 94.02 and 94.03 from 1.9.1987 to 28.2.1989

Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that according to a practice that was generally prevalent regarding levy of duty of excise (including non-levy thereof) under section 3 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the duty of excise on goods falling under Chapter 69 and heading numbers 94.01, 94.02 and 94.03 of Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985
