Fictitious offers of cheap funds from abroad – Awareness Campaign – Registering complaints with Cyber Crime Cell/ Economic Offences Wing
As you are aware, the Reserve Bank has on several occasions in the past, through public awareness campaigns, suitably cautioned the members of public not to fall pray to fictitious offers / lottery winnings/ offers of remittance of cheap funds in foreign currency from abroad by certain foreign entities/ individuals, including Indian residents acting as the representatives of such entities/ individuals.
In order to sensitize the customers/ general public in this regard and to protect them from becoming a victim of such offers, a list of nodal agencies in the different States for registering complaints in respect of fictitious offers / lottery winnings/ offers of remittance of cheap funds from abroad etc. has been compiled by the Bank and the same is enclosed in the Annex.
You are requested to bring the contents of the circular and the list of nodal agencies to the notice of all your branches and the customers of your bank as also display the same in your branches for the information of the customers.
