Find status of assessee based on PAN – We have attached a excel file which will help you determine the status of any one on the basis of his PAN. In this file you just have to enter the PAN and sheet will show the status of the PAN.

It is very simple. No need to download any file. Fourth alphabet in PAN denotes the status. If it is ‘P’, it is individual,, ‘F’ for Firm, ‘C’ for company, ‘H’ for HUF and so on. As for example in PAN ABCFB****N, THE FOURTH LETTER IS ‘F’, THEREFORE THE STATUS IS ‘FIRM’.

MOST OF US KNOW THAT THE FOURTH LETTER IN THE FIRST 5 LETTERS OF THE PAN REPRESENTS THE STATUS OF THE ASSESSEE LIKE P FOR INDIVIDUAL, H FOR HUF, C FOR COMPANY, A FOR ASSOCIATION OR BODY OF INDIVIDUALS. T FOR TRUST AND S FOR CO-OP SOCIETY ETC., WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL IN UPLOADIING SUCH WORTHLESS FILE? COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF THE CLUE IS GIVEN TO FIND OUT THE SEX OF THE INDIVIDUAL ASSESSEE, AS THESE DAYS WE GET LOT OF INTIMATIONS U/S 143 (1) TREATING FEMALE ASSESSEES AS MALE ASSESSEES.
