Today is the last date for Return Filing for the Assessee Including Individual, HUF, partnership Firm Etc whose Accounts are not required to be audited under the Income Tax Act or any other law and also for a working partner of a firm whose accounts are not required to be audited under the Income Tax Act or any other law.

This Year Department has made E-Filing Compulsory For All the Individual and HUF whose Total Income Exceeds 5 Lakh. Last Year This Limit was Rs. 10 Lakh.  This decrease in Limit resulted in more  Rush on Income tax E-filing website which slowed down the e-filing website and people found it difficult to upload the ITR. Even as per department estimate in Peak hours E-Filing rate was 85000/- returns per hour.

  1. K K SARAOGI says:

Govt. notifies extension of date of filing the return on last day of the due date. They do so because they are anticipating maximum number of person to file the return by 30th July itself. To mitigate tension and for hassle free filing of return, they should come out with notification at least by 29th July.

  2. SURESH CHANDARANA says:

s, it is very true & also of the fact that due to heavy rains in all parts of India, their is irregular electricity supply & also slow down in net facility, also income tax site not working for 29th july to 1st aug its my & on part of the Indian Nation people hereby request to extend the due date of filing the returns by atleast one month.

  3. Pradip says:

Yes. Extension of time required. Its true that I.T. Department provided return preparation utilities 2½ month ago. Tax payer having NIL tax and TDS can file their return in time. But due to non availability of TDS certificates and proper tax credit in PAN taxpayer has to wait.

  4. Vinay Joshi says:

    NOT AT ALL!?

Why should the 5L salaried person who has no dues to be paid / has NO c/f losses
should BOTHER TO FILE RETURNS before July 31st? TILL MARCH 2014!?
Can still file thereafter. Will there be any problem?!

Yes it was wrong that FinMin came out late with its ntfn as advised by CBDT.

So there is NOTHING to worry!?

    Regards,

  5. ADV.ANIL KUMAR says:

The comments and difficulties expressed by citizen indicate that how we are civilized. However, our civilized citizen are not supported by the department concerned and the webmaster of the CBDT. Extending time is not a solution, off course some web load might be minimized but the taxpayer who have failed to efile their return shall remain in the line and if they failed to file their e-return, the Big-brother may take some uncalled for action. BSNL is also on strike under- this situation what is the utility of extension of time. The Hon,ble members of the CBDT must formulate such system to assess the tax in time and to support their Govt.

  6. A.V.S.RAVI KUMAR,HYDYD says:

Due date for filing IT return upto 05-08-2013 is not sufficient. This should be extended upto 31-08-2013 due to rains and technical disurbances.

  7. CA ANIL D. SARAF says:

YES, The Department has to extend the Due Date. Even though the date is extended till 05-08-2013 is not enough. The Site is not performing properly since last Saturday (26-07-2013). And since last two days, there is no excess to the Site.

Even the date for filling of Audited assessee should also be extended. This year it was made compulsory for Trust to up-load Audit Report on-line and to submit ITR-7 online. The ITR-7 is newly introduced and took lot of time to complete properly (as it requires lot of information).

Looking to all these complications, the Due date of Return Filling should be extended.

  8. Nath Cochin says:

Yes there is need to extend the dates (atleast till Aug 31st) on the following counts:-
    1. The e-filing process takes more time due to heavy rush for e-filing, due to reduction in limit for e filing (with above 5 L to e-file compulsorily).
    2. The decision of withdrawing the exception (for those having below 5 L income) was known only a few days ago and many are unaware of it and is running to get the Form 16 from employers.
    3. Due to this heavy rush is experienced at IT offices.

  9. Rani says:

extension of date for Efiling of I.T.R IS NOT WISE STEP IF SOMEHTING UNDUE NOT HAPPEN , LAST YEAR IT WAS EXTNDED DUE TO FAILOUR OF POWER IN ENTIRE COUNTRY.

  10. Kavita Kisla says:

YES, the E-return filing date should be extended as the I-Tax site is very very slow even I could not download Form.
Hence, I request I-Tax department to extend the date.

  11. munish maheshwari says:

THAT THE WEB PAGE IS NOT DOWNLOAD. THERE IS NO CONNECTIVITY WITH THE SITE. THE DUE DATE MUST BE EXTENDED FOR AT LEAST 10 DAYS.

  12. Riya says:

Yes the date should be extended please. The Tax submission and return filing portal is working very slow and it is becoming difficult to submit the returns online.

  13. CA S N Kolte says:

Yes, the due date must be extended. We are not able to even log in to the site. Uploading the return has become just impossible. How can department expect assessees to meet the due date in these circumstances.

  14. Gorakh Falke says:

Yes, the Department should extend e-filing of returns for one month i.e. up to 31st August, 2013 in view of many new assesses who are mandatory required to file e-returns. Even in view of lack of clarity for salaried employees to file return in ITR-1 or ITR-2, some more time should be given.

  15. ADVOCATE PANKAJ LAL says:

Yes it is necessary to extend the date. Every thing was ok upto 28/07/2013, Monday onwards site is not responsive. One month time must be entended.

  16. CA S L Gupta says:

as the Income site is very slow & not functioning properly since last 4-5 days alternate arrangement is required for submission/uploading the returns in time

    CA S L Gupta

  17. CA Rohit Saluja says:

    yes,
The date must be extended as the site is not working properly , may be due to rush, and so many assessees have not yet filed their Return.

    Regards
    CA Rohit Saluja

  18. CA Amrish Raj, Varanasi says:

Yes, the date should be extended definetly, as the ITax site is totally incapable of withholding such type of loads. Fin ministry should first see toward its infrastructure before issuing compulsory efiling orders. Total failure of the Govt.

  19. CA. M. Lakshmanan says:

Yes; it is to be extended because every one finds it very difficult to log-in and even downloading Form 26AS is also taking too much time. As seen in the comments the assessees are also at fault; everyone thinks about filing only at the last minute and dump the auditor’s office with particulars in the 11th hour. How can we expect the website to take such huge volumes? Instead the government can think of allowing rebates/incentives for early filers and the returns should be made available for e-filing right from 1st April.

  20. rakesh didwania says:

must be extended. cbdt had released forms very late. almost in june end. so the time given is only 1 month instead of 4. the server is too busy. so time limit should be extended by 1 month

  21. HIMMAT says:

    Yes

due to rain all the schedule are upset and we are not able to update properly

it should extended ever internet connection also effect in office.

    Himmat

  22. Adv Sanjay Dhabalia says:

This year new return form i.e ITR’s were released in the month of june and schema to validate returns form 4 was released in the july first week. form no 5 for partnership firm was released in mid july and form 6 in last week of july. What the hell govt thinks of itself the they can take as much time as they want to do their duty and assessee should be prompt and force to do compliance in time. Why Government employees should not be penalized for late release of ITR forms. By 1st april on the start of financial year all the forms should have been made available. MANDATORY MICR IFSC CODE what is use of it where electronic refund payment is not made to the assessee. Govt employees who are responsible for late release of forms should be penalized as assessee are penalized even if late filed for one day…

  23. SATHISHA RAJANNA says:

YES DUE DATE SHOULD BE EXTENDED. BECAUSE IT DEPARTMENT WEBSITE IS BUSY FROM LAST 03 DAYS NOT ABLE TO VIEW 26AS SO IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED

  24. Pramod Kulkarni says:

    Yes
Yes it is necessary to extend the date. As the CBDT has came forward on the last second week of the july giving clarification that the income earners less than 5 lakhs

  25. R.B.Vishwakarma says:

    RB VISHWAKARMA

Yes, date to be extended due the rain we are unable to get network properly and unable to upload returns.

    Regards
    R.B.Vishwakarma

  26. Ca Rakesh Nahar says:

yes, the site was slow for the last couple of days. the login and downloading of 26AS was also difficult, even after half an hour constant try, sometimes only we could succeed in uploading. The CBDT shud take utmost care for last hour rush, as the usual habit of general public is to rush in only at the last days.

  27. Bimal Gunjarwala says:

Earlier years it was good system in return filing that on 30th Jun for Salary returns, 31st Aug for all those assessees who are not liable for tax audit, 31st october for non company assessee liable for tax audit and 31st dec for all company assessee. It was good system. Further, for individual and HUF liability of filing return on gross income is very strange. Despite gross income is higher then threshold limit but after deductions if taxable income goes under threshold limit, then it must be expempted from filing of return.

By the way, department site was very slow and still many people would have to file the return, so in that case, due date must be extended.
