FICCI to pursue with state governments issue of implementing GST
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry ( FICCI )), today said it will pursue the issue of implementation of the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) with various state governments. ”We will pursue with state governments the (issue of) implementation of GST,” FICCI’s Chairman (Western Region Council), Sushil Jiwarajka said in an interactive Budget session held here.
The Centre and the states are engaged in talks over the GST for about four-years now.
The government is scheduled to table the GST Constitution Amendment Bill during the current session of Parliament for consideration.
“The Finance Minister has proposed various measures to achieve a closer fit between the present Service Tax regime and its successor GST,” Prem Prakash Srivastava, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai, said.
