CBI arrests an Inspector of Central Excise in a bribery case

New Delhi , 13-07-2011 (CBI)  The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Inspector of Central Excise, Ernakulam(Kerala) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the complainant.  A case was registered against the Inspector of Central Excise U/s 7 of P.C.Act, 1988 on the basis of a complaint received from the complainant.

The complainant had alleged that the Inspector, Central Excise, Ernakulam(Kerala) had demanded a bribe of Rs.One Lakh from him for settling his Service Tax Returns. He informed his inability to mobilize Rs.One Lakh. The accused bargained with him and agreed to accept Rs.15,000/- as the first instalment. A trap was laid and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/-from the complainant.

CBI arrests an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Pubjab Police Headquarters, Chandigarh in a bribery case

New Delhi , 13-07-2011 (CBI)  The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIGP), Punjab Police HQ, Chandigarh for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.

It was alleged in the complaint that the AIGP had demanded a bribe of Rs. Three Lakh for favouring the complainant in an enquiry pertaining to various cases registered against him in different Police Stations of Punjab. Accordingly, a case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act 1988 in CBI, ACB, Chandigarh on 12.07.2011 on the basis of the said complaint. CBI laid a trap and the AIGP was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs.50,000/- as part payment from the complainant.

The arrested accused is being produced today in the Designated Court at Chandigarh.
