Give workers permanent jobs not contracts – Govt to industry

Government today urged industries to give workers’ permanent employment instead of contracts. Speaking at a function after distributing National Safety Awards in New Delhi today, the Labour and Employment Minister Mr. Mallikarjun also called for extending social security benefits to these workers.
He hailed the role of workers and said that their effective role has reduced the number of industrial accidents and the country was able to attain best safety standards in industry.
Earlier the Minister awarded National Safety Awards to various industries and workers in different categories. 28 Vishwakarma Rashtriya Purskars were given on the occasion for the year 2009
